About Illinois REALTORS®

Illinois REALTORS® is the only advocate for private property rights at the state Capitol in Springfield and in communities statewide. We stand for excellence in advocacy, education and ethics for real estate practitioners.

One of Illinois’ largest trade associations, we represent 50,000 members involved in virtually all aspects related to the sale, purchase, exchange or lease of residential or commercial property in Illinois.

The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.

The History of Illinois REALTORS®

One can say our country was a very different place in 1916 than it is today, but the unity of our founding members has carried forth a tradition with each succeeding decade. Today, 29 local boards and associations comprise the Illinois REALTORS®, formerly known as the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR).

While the membership base of the association has expanded to include over 50,000 members, the programs and services have continued to evolve to keep pace with the changing characteristics of our members. As members, you can be proud of the many achievements of the past 100+ years and look forward to the progress the future will bring.
